Original miniature and mixed-media art from the studio of Nichole de Parra — and small. mini. micro., the shop where tiny comics, paper pottery, handbound books and penny-sized folios find new homes.
Artist & Founder
Meet the Artist
“Scale may change the object, but it does not have to limit the story.”
With a Fine Art degree from the University of Oregon, my practice has moved across media and disciplines. It is shaped by my Peruvian and Mexican heritage, an interest in psychogeography and our relationships with place, and a long fascination with the ways ordinary materials can take on new meaning.
I began working in miniatures in 2025 during a period of significant personal transition. What started as a creative outlet quickly became a serious studio practice. I approach miniature-making with the sensibility of a mixed-media artist, combining traditional materials with found, repurposed and unexpected objects to create pieces that reward a closer look.
Through Desert Flower Art Studio I make original artwork and miniature environments. Through small. mini. micro. I make handmade accessories, dollhouses, book nooks and other tiny objects for collectors, makers and people who simply appreciate the delight of discovering something wonderfully small.

Inside the Studio
Desert Flower Art Studio, LLC is the creative practice. small. mini. micro. is the shop. Different names, same artist, same worktable — considerably smaller merchandise.
Dollhouses, book nooks, room boxes and small-scale environments built as artwork — layered with paint, ephemera, pattern, natural elements and objects that had a previous life.
The retail side of the studio: tiny comics, paper pottery, handbound books, penny-sized folios and curious little mirrors, made for collectors, hobbyists and anyone who loves tiny things with big personalities.
Miniature shows, conventions, exhibitions, workshops and the occasional commission. The studio is growing across both the fine-art and miniature-collector communities.
Out of the Studio
Some things are better seen in person — particularly the ones the size of a penny. Here is where the work is heading next.
The studio is beginning to sell at miniature shows and conventions. Dates and booth locations will be listed here as they are confirmed.
Desert Flower Art Studio participates in exhibitions and miniature arts organizations across both the fine-art and miniature-collector communities.
Small-group workshops on miniature making, repurposed materials and mixed-media technique are being planned. Say hello if you would like to be told first.
Commissions & Custom Work
Commission availability varies with the studio schedule, but I always like hearing what people are building — a room box, a shop scene, a curated folio on a theme, or a piece made from materials with a history of their own.
Shipping & Policies
Scale, shipping, returns and how to care for a piece that fits on a fingertip.
1:12 scale means one inch in miniature represents about one foot in the 1:1 world. Many pieces are far smaller than that — some barely larger than a grain of rice. Please review the dimensions and scale notes in each listing rather than relying on photographs alone.
Orders ship within the United States with tracking. Flat-rate shipping is $6 and shipping is free on orders over $50. Pieces are packaged with their scale and delicate construction in mind — some collections have their own protective or presentation packaging.
If something arrives damaged, send a photo within 7 days and I will replace it or refund you. Because pieces are handmade from vintage and found materials, variation in color, pattern and finish is expected and is not a defect.
These are miniature art objects and collectibles, not children’s toys, and they may contain very small parts. Handle with clean, dry hands or miniature tools, and keep them away from moisture and prolonged direct sunlight. Tiny objects require a lighter touch than their full-scale counterparts.

Ask NicholeDesert Flower Art Studio, LLC is the creative studio and home of my work as a mixed-media and miniature artist. small. mini. micro. is the shop side of the studio, where you can find handcrafted miniatures, collectible pieces, dollhouse accessories and other very small things. Different names, same artist, same studio, considerably smaller merchandise.
Yes. Every piece is individually handcrafted, altered, assembled, curated or finished by hand. Depending on the piece I may also incorporate repurposed objects, vintage materials, found objects, artisan papers, ephemera, beads and charms. Some pieces begin entirely from scratch; others begin with an existing object that I transform into something new. Each product description identifies the materials and processes specific to that collection.
Transformation is central to my studio practice. I am interested in taking materials that already have a history and reconsidering what they can become at a different scale. Vintage books become leather folios, old miniature publications become tiny pottery, comic pages become miniature comics. Whenever vintage or repurposed materials are an important part of a piece, that is noted in the description.
1:12 scale means one inch in miniature represents approximately one foot in the 1:1 world — one of the most common dollhouse scales. Many pieces are designed for 1:12, but scale often depends on how an object is used: a 1:12 journal might become an oversized art book in a smaller-scale setting, and tiny pottery works across several scales. Where scale matters, dimensions are included in the listing.
That depends on the listing. Many pieces are made from materials with natural variation — vintage leather, handmade papers, ephemera, washi tape — so pattern placement, color, shape and imagery may vary. Some products are sold as the exact piece photographed; others are part of a collection, curated theme or randomly selected assortment. Each listing explains which applies.
Bookseller’s Choice means I do the selecting for you. Your pieces are chosen from available inventory and may include an assortment of colors, patterns or designs — essentially a tiny surprise curated by The Little Bookbindery.
No. small. mini. micro. products are miniature art, collectibles, display pieces and accessories for miniature environments. They may contain very small parts and delicate materials and are not intended as children’s toys.
Custom and commission availability varies with my studio schedule and the nature of the project; when commissions are open, details are posted on the site. I also participate in selected miniature shows, conventions and exhibitions — see the Events section for upcoming opportunities to shop or see the work in person.
Kind Words
Say Hello
A commission idea, a question about scale or materials, an invitation to a show, or just a note about tiny things — I would love to hear from you.
“Some work is functional within a miniature setting, some is collectible artwork, and some simply exists because making something absurdly tiny is reason enough.”
